Adding Phone Number to WhatsApp Business Platform API

In order to add your phone number to Whatsapp Cloud API do the following

  • On the Getting Started page, scroll down to the bottom and click on "Add phone number" button.

  • A pop-up window will appear, add a Display Name that you would to associate with the new phone number that you are about to add. This name will be shown to users that interact with your business on WhatsApp.

  • Choose Timezone, Add Category and add a Business Description. Business Description can be added later as well.
  • Click on "Next" to move to the next step.
  • Now you need to add a phone number which you wish to link to your WhatsApp cloud API. This number could be a Mobile / Landline or a Toll Free Number.

NOTE: The phone number should not be connected to a WhatsApp Mobile App or perviously being used by a BSP (other WhatsApp Business Platform API provider). This number has to be verified by WhatsApp, the verification happens via OTP over SMS or Phone Call. Make a choice and hit Next. Verify your phone number by entering the verification code. The phone number is successfully added!
